Since higher education is a lifetime investment, it has been the utmost commitment in making the said investment worth making here in the College of Education of First City Providential College. The students are provided with opportunities to continue the objectives of basic education, shifting in emphasis from the mastery of basic tools of learning, expression, and understanding to the use and extension of the tools for further exploring and acquiring the needed knowledge, skills, values for their holistic development. In a span of 4-years, Bachelor of Elementary Education and Bachelor of Secondary Education programs prepare students for positions of teaching responsibility and leadership, research, consulting, guidance and counseling, curriculum development, and administration, as a response in meeting the needs of producing teachers who can teach across the different learning areas or disciplines.

Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) provides combination of both theory and practice for future mentors of excellence who intend to teach in Grades 1-6 through the general education, professional education, and specialization courses mandated by CMO No. 74 series of 2017. It culminates with field studies, Preparatory Learning Experience for Practice Teaching, extensive teaching internship, and Professional Competency Assessments under the supervision, guidance and mentoring of highly qualified roster of faculty members.

Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) aims to equip the future mentors of excellence who intend to teach in the junior and / or senior high school basic education levels through the general education, professional education, and specialization courses mandated by CMO No. 75 series of 2017, with the needed pedagogical contents, research, and leadership skills. It culminates with field studies, Preparatory Learning Experience for Practice Teaching, extensive teaching internship, and Professional Competency Assessments under the supervision, guidance and mentoring of highly qualified roster of faculty members.

Retention Policies

  • Every student must have a good academic standing during his entire stay in the First City Providential College.
  • A student must comply with the retention policy of his/her program which is approved by the administration.
  • Level Exit Assessment (LEA)/Education Retention Assessment (ERA) will be given for 1st year to 3rd year College of Education students.
  • LEAs are based on the 1st and 2nd semester subjects per area.
  • The coverage of the Level Exit Assessment for 1st year shall be General Education subjects, whereas for 2nd year and 3rd year shall be Professional Education and Specialization subjects. 
  • Final Examination Test items shall serve as the LEA and ERA.
  • Students who passed shall enroll in the course where he/she is qualified to pursue.
  • Criteria for Retention 60% – final average rating 40% – Educational Retention Assessment/LEA 
  • Education students who fail in Practice Teaching shall be disqualified from the educational program. With the approval of the dean and the school head, decisions made shall be considered FINAL and EXECUTORY.
